They all met for the first time at the Melbourne School of Nursing in 1953. In 1956 after three years of study, they successfully graduated together from The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Associated Hospitals School of Nursing after successfully sitting their final exam on the 29 & 30 June.

Over time they have shared their life journeys with each other. Indelible bonds were formed during those early years of intensive nurse training, that has lasted a lifetime.

There are not many people who can claim to have maintained 50 years of friendship and shared memories based on their early work experiences.

ReplyDeleteI'm grateful to have remained in touch with three girlfriends I played with since before 1950. Rather amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat's a special gift to maintain a friendship so long. I've not had that good fortune, but my mother and father kept several close friends since their early school days. Perhaps it was a tradition of this generation.

ReplyDeleteGreat photo selections. You're right, maintaining friendships for 50 years takes a special type of bond. I went to a reunion last year of the street I grew up on. Most of us "kids" are now retired, but that special bond from childhood was still there :-)
